April 1, 2016 DALLAS (UNLVRebels.com) - No. 18 UNLV women's golf shot a 20-over-par 596 (303-293) in the first two rounds of the SMU/DAC Invitational to place second at the par-72, 6,159-yard Dallas Athletic Club Blue Course. The Rebels' 5-over 293 in the second round was the second best team round score of the day and vaulted them from fifth place after the first round to their current second place standing over several ranked teams in the 16-team field.
Junior Alexandra Kaui leads UNLV after shooting a consistent 1-over 73 in both rounds to tie for ninth place at 2-over-146. Freshman Elizabeth Prior is two strokes behind at 4-over 148 (76-72) for 15th place. Freshman Kaylee Benton collected a 5-over 149 (76-73) and is tied for 16th place. Sophomore Mackenzie Raim is tied for 39th place at 10-over 154 (78-76), and sophomore Harley Dubsky rebounded from a 10-over 82 in the first round and scored a 3-over 75 in the second round to tie for 54th place.
No. 10 Oklahoma State is 20 strokes ahead of UNLV in first place at 2-over 578 (295-283). No. 13 Washington is only three strokes behind UNLV at 22-over 598 (300-298) in third place, and No. 16 Iowa State is in fourth place with a team score of 23-over 599 (301-298).
Yupaporn Kawinpakorn of Kansas leads the field of 84 golfers at 7-under 137 (70-67), six strokes ahead of the only other golfer below par after the first two rounds, Emma Broze of Oklahoma State (73-70). Three golfers are tied for third place at even-par 144.
UNLV will be paired with Oklahoma State and Washington for the final round on holes one-five tomorrow with a shotgun start at 6:00 a.m. P.T.
