April 19, 2016 LAS VEGAS (UNLVRebels.com) - The UNLV women's tennis team, which is ranked 68th, looks to cap off its regular season with a win against Mountain West Conference foe San Diego State on Saturday, starting with doubles at 10 a.m. PT. The Rebels were last in action early this month against intrastate rival Nevada, Reno, and moved into position to earn valuable points for their side in the Governor's Series by downing the Pack 4-2.
With a victory, UNLV will post more than 20 wins in a season for only the second time since 1991.The Rebels have already seen four players hit the 20-win mark: Paola Artiga 28-6, Aiwen Zhu 22-8, No. 102 Carol Yang 20-4, and Anna Bogoslavets 20-1. Last week, the women's tennis program alongside women's golf, were recognized by the NCAA for reaching perfect 1000 multiyear scores, placing them in the top 10 percent of all squads in the country.
Saturday is senior day for the lady netters and lone senior Iren Kotseva (13-1) will be honored before the match.
