The two-day tournament at University of New Mexico's par-73, 6,315-yard Championship Course was originally scheduled for two rounds on day one, but inclement weather suspended play before the second round could be completed. Second round play will resume in the morning, followed immediately by the third and final round.

Junior Mackenzie Raim turned in the top score during round one with a 2-over 74 and had recorded a 2-under through 11 holes in round two to put her in a tie for 24th. Senior Alexandra Kaui, the reigning Mountain West individual champion, registered a 3-over 75 during round one and was at 2-over through 12 holes to end the day tied for 40th.

Sophomores Elizabeth Prior and Shannon Oh carded round one scores of 4-over 76 and 6-over 78, respectively, and were 1-over and 2-over before play was suspended.

In her collegiate debut, freshman Alli Kim birdied her first hole out of the gate and carded a 6-over 78 in the first round, followed by a 3-over through 13 holes of the second round. Competing as an individual, sophomore Alyssa Getty carded a first round score of 9-over 81 and was also 3-over through 13 holes of round two.

Head coach Amy Bush-Herzer was encouraged about how the team finished the day after an up-and-down round one. "It's the first event of the year, so we had to shake off some nerves," said Bush-Herzer. "But in the second round we started to come back and play well before the rain came. There were lots of things we did well and a lot we can capitalize on tomorrow, so we're really looking forward to finishing round two in the morning and heading to the final round."
