Rebels Launch Locker Room Fundraising Campaign

Sept. 20, 2016

LAS VEGAS (UNLVRebels.com) - UNLV women's soccer is off to one of its best starts in program history, going a record 4-0 to open the season and finishing its non-conference slate 7-2. The Rebels will also be making a move to a larger locker room on campus and have launched a fundraising campaign to help make the space their own, with the goal of fostering long-term success for the program on and off the field.

Head coach Chris Shaw sees it as a chance for fans and supporters to pave the way for future Rebels. "[By contributing] You are helping to continue the winning tradition of Rebel soccer by leaving your legacy on the women's soccer program," said Shaw. "These resources will will help us compete at the highest level and become one of the premier women's soccer programs in the country."

Redshirt senior Susie Bernal has been with the program for five years and knows this move will have a positive impact on both the current team and the future of the program. "The chance to move into a new locker room means so much to us and will be great for future newcomers," said Bernal. "Everyone is putting in so much work and effort to have a successful year, so we feel like its well-deserved. We've already experienced a lot of success on the field so far this year, so it's exciting to be rewarded in this way and to leave a mark on this program that future Rebels can continue." And of course, more space also means more room to build up energy for the games with this year's energetic bunch. "This is the best team I've ever been around," said Bernal. "We like to dance and get loose before the games, so heading into conference play we feel like it will only help us be ready and focused to go out there and win."
