LAS VEGAS (UNLVRebels.com) - UNLV saw its only singles and doubles entry still alive lose in the finals of flight two in the singles and doubles draw Sunday as the 15th annual Freeman Memorial Women's Tennis Championships at the Fertitta Tennis Complex came to a close.
Jovana Kenic (UNLV) was downed by Jean Runglerdkriangkrai of Pepperdine 6-4, 6-3, while Paola Artiga and Anna Bogoslavets were outlasted by Laura Gulbe and Dzina Milovanovic of Pepperdine 6-0.
The main draw flight one singles title went to Melissa Lord of Stanford who got by the top seeded and the fourth-ranked Ena Shibahara 6-3, 6-3. The main draw flight one double champions came from North Carolina as top-seed and second-ranked Jessie Aney and Hayley Carter downed second-seed and third-ranked Mayar Sherif Ahmed and Christine Maddox of Pepperdine, 7-6.
With individual tournament action now closed for the Rebels, the women's squad looks forward to opening its dual match season on Friday when it hosts New Mexico State starting at 10 a.m.
