Feb. 10, 2017 LAS VEGAS (UNLVRebels.com) - In addition to the 11 prep players UNLV Women's Soccer signed after last week's National Signing Day, the Rebels will welcome junior college transfer Amanda Galbraith from Santa Rosa Junior College in Santa Rosa, Calif., this fall. The addition of Galbraith brings head coach Chris Shaw's 2017 class to 12 total.
Galbraith is joining the Rebels after spending two seasons at Santa Rosa Junior College. Originally from Petaluma, Calif., the forward attended Casa Grade High School, where she was a three-year starter on the varsity soccer team. The three-time First-Team All-League selection was a team captain for two years, earning offensive MVP honors her junior and senior years in 2013 and 2014, respectively. During her career she also played club ball for Sonoma County Alliance and Petaluma United.
While in Santa Rosa, Galbraith helped the Bearcubs to two postseason appearances and one conference championship. The forward, who will enter UNLV at a junior level standing, was an offensive powerhouse for the Bearcubs during her stint in Santa Rosa. In her freshman season in 2015, Galbraith scored 24 goals and 11 assists en route to earning Big 8 First Team All Conference, All Northern California Women's Soccer Team and Second Team All American honors. This past season she added another 22 goals with six assists on the year.
With UNLV losing offensive production from 2016 due to graduation, the addition of Galbraith will be key in the Rebels quest to defend their Mountain West championship. Not only does she bring talent on the offensive side of the ball, she will also bring collegiate playing experience, which will be valuable for a young team in 2017.
Galbraith plans on finishing her degree in social behavior sciences at UNLV.
The full class now includes five signees from Las Vegas, six from California and one from North Carolina. The signees are Citlalli Alonso, Madi Boyd, Erykah Browne, Jozee De Cunzo, Amanda Galbraith, Alyssa Granados, Hannah Harrison, Troi Hollimon, Robin Pollard, Ellyson Reynada, Paulina Senices and Lauren Sisneros.
