LAS VEGAS (UNLVRebels.com) - UNLV Athletics sends its condolences to the family and friends of former Rebel football player Courtney Bossert, who passed away this week after a short illness, with his wife, UNLV alumnae Karen Bossert, and his daughter Shelby Peralta at his side.

Bossert, born in 1954 in Bismarck, North Dakota, grew up in Phoenix and eventually became a junior college all-conference offensive lineman at Glendale Community College. He transferred to UNLV and played center for the 1974 squad that was inducted into the UNLV Athletics Hall of Fame, as well as the 1975 (injured during the first game) and ’76 teams. The Rebels’ combined record for those three years was 28-8.

Bossert was the starting center for the 1974 Rebel team that finished 12-1.

His 28-year career in education included stints at McQueen High School and Reed High School, the latter of which he served for many years as head coach.

A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date in Reno as well as a celebration for his friends and teammates at UNLV’s Homecoming game vs. Utah State on October 21.
