LAS VEGAS (UNLVRebels.com) - UNLV men's golf sophomore Harry Hall has been named to the European Arnold Palmer Cup team, the Golf Coaches Association of America announced Tuesday.

The annual Ryder Cup-style competition will be played June 9-11 at Atlanta Athletic Club.

Hall, a native of Hayle, England, has five top-10 finishes this season, including runner-up at both the National Invitational Tournament and The Goodwin. He has twice been named Mountain West Men's Golfer of the Week this season and also has been named the Outstanding Rebel Athlete of the Week.

Hall has posted a 71.37 scoring average for the season and has carded 10 rounds in the 60s. He was named to the England men's golf squad in December.

Hall was added to the European Palmer Cup team after Stuart Grehan, who had previously been selected to represent Europe, was champion of The R&A Foundation Scholars Tournament. The winner of the Scholar Tournament is provided an exemption to represent Europe in the Palmer Cup. However, the spot reverts to a pick if the Scholars Tournament champion has previously been selected.

Hall will be the eighth person from UNLV to participate in a Palmer Cup. Head coach Dwaine Knight was the U.S.'s captain (head coach) during the inaugural competition in 1997. Ted Oh played in 1997, Jeremy Anderson played in 1998 and 1999, Scott Lander was on the squad in 2001, Ryan Moore played in 2003 and 2004, former assistant coach Andy Bischel was the U.S.'s assistant coach in 2008, and Derek Ernst was on the team in 2012. Hall will be the first from UNLV to participate on the European team.

Current UNLV assistant coach Philip Rowe also played in the Arnold Palmer Cup for the European Team from 1999-2002, before he was a part of the Rebel program.
