CORVALLIS, Ore. (UNLVRebels.com) - UNLV Softball couldn't even the series with Oregon State Sunday as they fell to the Beavers 9-0 in five innings at the OSU Softball Complex in their final non-conference game of 2017. It was the first series sweep and just the third shutout the Rebels have suffered this year. The loss moves UNLV's record to 19-15 overall while their road mark falls to 2-5 on the season.

UNLV senior right-hander Morgan Ettinger, who has already established a new career high for wins with 12 in 2017, got the start in the circle. Her recent struggles continued as the Beavers used a pair of big innings to build a big lead for the second straight day, scoring three runs in the first and four runs in the second. Freshman Mara Kemmer entered in relief for Ettinger in the third and gave up two more runs before holding the Beavers scoreless in the fourth. The defeat was Ettinger's seventh straight and brings her record to 12-9 on the year.

The Rebel offense was again quiet, scattering three hits over five innings after managing just six hits and two runs in game one Saturday. Their best shot to score came in the third when Brianna Gatlin and Janine Petmecky reached base on back-to-back errors by Oregon State with two outs, but Alyssa Navarro grounded out to third base to end the inning.

UNLV finished its non-conference slate with a 17-11 record - the best mark in non-league games for Lisa Dodd in her five years at the helm.

The remainder of the Scarlet & Gray's 2017 schedule will all be against Mountain West foes, with Boise State coming to Las Vegas, April 7-9, for a three-game tilt at Eller Media Stadium.
