TEMPE, Ariz. (UNLVRebels.com) - UNLV Women's Golf concluded its 2016-17 regular season tournament slate Sunday at the PING/ASU Invitational in Tempe, Ariz., finishing in a tie for fifth out of 14 teams with a three-round score of 8-over 872 after shooting a 7-over 295 in the final round. The Rebels entered the day in fourth place at 1-over after carding 1-over first round and even par second round scores as a team on Friday and Saturday, respectively.

Senior Alexandra Kaui was the Rebels' top performer for the tournament, finishing in a tie for 21st at 2-over (218). Kaui was tied for sixth after round one at 2-under, then dropped back into a tie for ninth at 1-under after 36 holes. It wasn't the finish Kaui was hoping for as she carded a 3-over Sunday to move out of the top 10.

Freshman Alli Kim, playing as an individual, recorded her best 54-hole score of her freshman campaign, finishing one stroke behind Kaui in a tie for 25th at 3-over (219). Sophomore Elizabeth Prior was one stroke behind Kim at 4-over (220), which was good for a tie for 27th, while fellow sophomore Alyssa Getty was two behind Prior in a tie for 36th at 6-over (222) after shooting a 73 on Sunday - her best round of the weekend. Junior Mackenzie Raim finished in a tie for 45th after a three-round score of 9-over 225, followed by senior Harley Dubsky in a tie for 49th at 10-over 226.

Tournament host and fifth-ranked Arizona State was the wire-to-wire team champion, winning by 20 strokes after a dominating Sunday performance of 15-under 273. No. 17 Arizona, who started the day three-back from the Sun Devils, held steady at second at 5-under (859) after shooting a 2-over in the final round. Defending NCAA Champion Washington recovered from a brutal second round to shoot the second-best team score over the final 18 holes at 5-under to end the invitational in third place at even par (864). No. 15 Baylor, who was tied at 10-under with ASU after day one, shot a 3-over to finish in fourth at 2-over (866). Rounding out the top five alongside the Rebels was Oregon State, who shot their only round under par on Sunday to match UNLV's final score.

Catapulting ASU's large margin of victory in the win were teammates Monica Vaughn and Roberta Lita, who finished second and first, respectively, after carding a combined tournament total of 19-under. Vaughn was the leader through two rounds at 8-under, but was passed by Liti in the final round as she shot a 4-under over the last 18 holes to edge out Vaughn at 10-under. Behind Vaughn in third place was Arizona's Krystal Quihuis, who started the day even with Liti at 6-under, while Washington's Ellen Takada made a huge move with a 6-under in round three to place fourth at 5-under. Rounding out the top five were Kansas State's Paige Nelson, ASU's Linnea Strom and Arizona's Haley Moore, who all finished at 3-under (213) after 54 holes.

Postseason play awaits the Rebels as the Mountain West Championships are set for April 17-19 in Rancho Mirage, Calif.
