May 22, 2017 LAS VEGAS (UNLVRebels.com) - UNLV's Jakob Amilon has been named the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) 2017 Mountain Region Senior Player of the Year.
The 2016 Mountain Region Player to Watch, Amilon was earlier named this year's Mountain West Player of the Year and earned a league-leading four conference player of the week nods this spring to give him six in his career.
A native of Stockholm, Sweden, Amilon won the ITA Mountain Region Singles Championship back on October and was named All-MW in singles with a 20-11 mark and doubles with a 20-8 record. He also was named the 2016-17 UNLV Mehdi Bouras Male Scholar-Athlete of the Year, which carries the name of the former Rebel tennis great.
Amilon is the sixth Rebel to earn the Senior Player of the Year Award and first since 2011.
