ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (UNLVRebels.com) - The UNLV women's golf team carded a three-round score of 17-over 881 to finish in a tie for 11th with Arizona at the University of New Mexico's Dick McGuire/Branch Law Firm Invitational in Albuquerque. The Rebels shot a 9-over 297 in Tuesday's final round at UNM's Championship Golf Course (par 72, 6,317 yards) after entering the day in a tie for ninth at 8-under.
Senior Mackenzie Raim, who sat in a tie for eighth at 1-under after day one, was UNLV's top finisher at tied for 10th after an even final round. Playing in her first tournament as a Rebel, freshman Cathy Liu nabbed her first top-20 finish, carding a 54-hole score of 3-over 219 to tie for 20th. As an individual entrant, sophomore Nastasia Kossacky also saw a top-20 finish, shooting a three-round score of 2-over 218 to tie for 18th.
Oklahoma State, the leader after two rounds, took home the team the team title after carding a 1-under 863 over the three rounds, edging out Northwestern by two strokes (1-over 865). Colorado and Stanford tied for third after shooting identical scores of 5-over 869. Individually, Arizona's Bianca Pagdanganan and Stanford's Andrea Lee each carded an 8-under 208 to share medalists honors, beating third place Kenzie Neisen of Oklahoma State by four strokes.
STAT OF THE DAY: For the tournament, UNLV was second overall in par-4 scoring average at 4.12 and was tied for third among the field in total pars with 61.
REBEL OF THE DAY: Raim was UNLV's most consistent golfer over the two-day invitational with all three rounds at 1-over or better, which included shooting even Tuesday to hold steady at 1-under and capture a top-10 finish.
