LAS VEGAS (UNLVRebels.com) - One of the nation’s top individual tournaments will turn 16 this year as players from many of the elite college programs in the United States, including host UNLV, will gather in Las Vegas this weekend for the annual Freeman Memorial Women's Tennis Championships at the Fertitta Tennis Complex on campus.

Individual competitors will be supplied by teams that include seven of the top 25 from the season’s initial ITA rankings: No. 1 Stanford, No. 3 Florida, No. 5 North Carolina, No. 6 Pepperdine, No. 12 Texas, No. 16 Oklahoma State and No. 17 UCLA. Host UNLV is scheduled to provide eight singles players and four doubles teams in the draws.

Action begins with doubles each day at 10 a.m. PT on Friday and Saturday with the finals scheduled for Sunday. Admission to all matches is free. The event features two flights each of both singles and doubles along with consolation rounds.

Last year’s event saw Stanford’’s Melissa Lord down fourth-ranked Ena Shibahra of UCLA for the Flight One singles crown while North Carolina’s Jessie Aney and Hayley Carter, ranked second, fought off third-ranked Mayar Sherif Ahmed and Christine Maddox of Pepperdine to earn the top doubles title.
