VESTAVIA HILLS, Ala. (UNLVRebels.com) - The No. 9 UNLV men's golf team shot rounds of 13-over-par 293 and 9-over 289 on Monday during the first day of the Jerry Pate National Intercollegiate, which is being hosted by Alabama at Old Overton Country Club (par 70, 7,209 yards).
The Rebels played with just four student-athletes as sophomore Jack Trent became sick. UNLV is ninth with a 36-hole total of 22-over 582.
No. 14 BYU holds the team lead by a shot at 7-under 553. No. 5 Alabama is second at 6-under, Arkansas is third at 5-under, while No. 23 Auburn is fourth at 2-over and Charlotte rounds out the top five at 3-over.
Individually, Arkansas' Julian Perico has a four-shot lead at 11-under 129. BYU's Carson Lundell is second at 7-under. The Rebels' top performer was freshman David Rauch who is tied for 21st at 3-over.
REBEL OF THE DAY: Rauch shot a second-round 1-under 69, the Rebels' low round of the day, which included five birdies.
