SATURDAY'S PREVIEW...
Still looking for its first Mountain West win, UNLV (2-7/0-5) travels to San Diego State (7-2/4-1) Saturday evening on ESPN2 ... The Rebels are coming off a 48-3 loss at home to Fresno State while the Aztecs won 31-23 at New Mexico ... This marks only the second game UNLV will play on grass in 2018 (at USC in Game 1) ... With starter Armani Rogers having missed the last five games because of a foot injury, it has now been 22 years since the same quarterback started every game of a season for the Rebels (Jon Denton 1996) ... Rogers, who looks to return to action this week, was ranked in the top 10 in the nation with 122.0 rushing yards per game when he was knocked out in September ... Rogers' replacement behind center, sophomore Max Gilliam, threw for 12 touchdowns in four games before not finding the end zone last week vs. the Bulldogs ... RB Lexington Thomas sits second in the MW and 40th in the country with 84.9 YPG ... Thomas (764 yards in 2018) is the second player in school history to run for at least 500 yards in four different seasons, joining all-time leading rusher Tim Cornett (2011-14) ... Lex recently moved past two-time All-American Mike Thomas into second place on UNLV's career rushing list and is one 100-yard rushing game short of tying Thomas' 44-year-old school record of 17 set in 1973-74 ... UNLV goes into Saturday tied for sixth in the nation with 10 fumbles recovered but sits 121st in the country with just three interceptions.

REBELS vs. AZTECS NOTES...
UNLV has played SDSU more than any other original MW team (27 times) and the Aztecs lead the series 18-9, including taking the last four meetings ... Aztec head coach Rocky Long is 22-4 against the Rebels in his career after previously coaching more than a decade at New Mexico ... SDSU's associate head coach/OC Jeff Horton twice worked at UNLV, serving as an assistant in 1990-91 and then as head coach from 1994-98 ... Fourth-year Aztec receivers coach Hunkie Cooper played at UNLV at multiple positions from 1990-91 and later served as the program's radio analyst. He held the UNLV record for most rushing yards in a game by a quarterback with 165 vs. Oregon State in 1991 until Armani Rogers broke that mark with 193 at New Mexico last fall ... First-year UNLV CB coach Steve Irvin played at and graduated from UNLV but later served as a GA coach at SDSU in 2002-03 and then an assistant director of operations for the Aztecs in 2004-05. He returned to Las Vegas after coaching at USD from 2011-17.
