LIHUE, Kauai (UNLVRebels.com) - The U NLV men's golf team shot a final-round 9-over-par 297 Saturday at the John A. Burns Intercollegiate, which was played at the Wailua Golf Course (par 72, 6,991 yards).
The Rebels finished the 54-hole event in a tie for second place at 12-under 852, 17 shots back of team champion Texas A&M. The Aggies shot a final-round 14-under 274 to finish at 29-under.
Individually, Texas A&M's Chandler Phillips shot a final-round 5-under 67 to earn medalist honors by three shots at 13-under 203. UNCW's Blake McShea finished second at 10-under.
UNLV was led by senior Shintaro Ban, who tied for seventh at 4-under 212. He shot a final-round 7-over 79. UNLV junior Harry Hall tied for 14th at 3-under.

REBEL NOTES:
• This was UNLV's first tournament of the spring season.
• This was Garrick Higgo's first tournament of his Rebel career.
• UNLV finished in third place at last year's Burns Intercollegiate.
• Hall and Ban both finished in the top 10 individually at last year's event, tying for third and seventh, respectively.
• UNLV competed in five tournaments during the fall. Its best team finish was fourth (twice).
• Ban turned in UNLV's top individual performance of the fall as he earned medalist honors at the Jerry Pate National Intercollegiate in Alabama in October. He has recorded a total of three top-10 finishes in five events this season.
• Last season, UNLV won the Mountain West Championship for the second straight year, captured an NCAA Regional title and advanced to the 'Elite Eight' at the NCAA Championship.
• Ban and Hall are both 2017 All-Mountain West Team honorees, and Ban earned honorable mention All-America. In addition, Ban was named an All-America Scholar.
• UNLV has an active NCAA record of 29 consecutive regional appearances.
• This season marks the 31st at UNLV for Hall of Fame head coach Dwaine Knight.
