LAS VEGAS (UNLVRebels.com) - The UNLV men's tennis team earned is fourth win in its last five outings, this time 5-2 over Marquette on a breezy Friday afternoon at the Fertitta Tennis Complex.
The Rebels improved to 8-5 overall while the Golden Eagles of the Big East Conference fell to 9-4.
UNLV started things by winning a thrilling doubles point by taking two of three matches. In singles, the hosts took a trio of straight-setters to clinch the win and then added a comeback victory by Richard Solberg on court four to reach five points.
REBEL OF THE MATCH: Alexandr Cozbinov, ranked 89th nationally, won two clinchers on the day. The senior first teamed with Courtney Lock to take a 7-5 victory at the top of the doubles lineup to give their team the point and then earned the Rebels' fourth win, 6-3, 7-5, over Alvaro Verdu.
NET NOTE: The Rebels have won the doubles point in eight straight matches, a streak that dates back to February 3.
