Rebels Finish Ninth At PING/ASU Invitational

TEMPE, Arizona (UNLVRebels.com) - UNLV women's golf finished out the final round of the PING/ASU Invitational at Arizona State's Karsten Golf Course Sunday morning carding an 8-over 296 to move their tournament total to 20-over 884. With that final tally, the Rebels finished the tournament in ninth place.

After entering the day in a tie for 27th at 3-over, freshman Polly Mack shot a round under 70 for the second time in her last five rounds, carding a 69 Sunday to jump up into a tie for 11th at even for tournament. Junior Elizabeth Prior was the Rebels' next highest finisher in a tie for 33rd at 7-over (223), followed by sophomore Nastasia Kossacky and Mackenzie Raim, who both came in at 9-over (225) to tie for 42nd. Freshman Cathy Liu, playing as an individual, finished in 55th at 12-over 228 after shooting an even round Sunday, while junior Shannon Oh was a shot behind Liu at 13-over (229) to tie for 56th.

No. 15 Arizona, who started the final day tied for third at 1-under, turned in the round of the tournament Sunday with an 11-under 277 to win by four strokes at 12-under over No. 16 Washington. No. 17 Oklahoma led after two rounds, but dropped back to third at 3-under (861), followed by Georgia in fourth at 2-under (862) and tournament host No. 8 Arizona State in fifth at 2-over (866).

Individually, Georgia's Jillian Hollis turned in a tournament single-round best 65 to shoot up from tied for ninth to the top of the leaderboard and take medalist honors at 9-under 207. Arizona teammates Haley Moore and YuSang Hou, along with Washington's Wenyung Keh, finished in a three-way tie at 6-under (210), while fellow Husky Sarah Rhee was one shot behind the trio in fifth at 5-under (211).

REBEL OF THE DAY: Mack's 69 Sunday was the best round of any Rebel at the the three-day event and was her second round under 70 in her last five. The freshman carded a 68 in the second round of the Jackrabbit Invitational in UNLV's last tournament prior to ASU.

REBEL NOTES:
UNLV entered the weekend in Tempe having won two of its last three tournaments
UNLV recently recorded its second home tournament win of the 2017-18 season as they shot a 17-over at the inaugural Rebel Beach Invitational at Spanish Trail Golf Club Feb. 26-27 to win by two strokes, then followed that with a 53-stroke win at the Jackrabbit Invitational last week
Last season, UNLV won the Mountain West Championship for the second straight year
