LAS VEGAS (UNLVRebels.com) - UNLV women's golf will wrap up its regular season slate this week in Napa, California, at the Silverado Showdown, April 8-10. The tournament, co-hosted by No. 19 Colorado and Oregon, will take place on the par-72, 6,201 yard course at Silverado Resort. Playing in threesomes, the teams will play 18 holes each day, with tee times on the first and 10th holes for the first two rounds Sunday and Monday and a shotgun start for Tuesday's final round. The field features 18 teams, including the Buffs and Ducks, with eight of the teams ranked in Golfweek's top-25.
The Rebels had a weekend off to prepare after finishing ninth at the PING/ASU Invitational in Tempe, Arizona, March 23-25. Freshman
Polly Mack was UNLV's highest finisher at the invitational after shooting a final round of 69 to shoot even for the tournament and tie for 11th overall.
Prior to Tempe, UNLV had won two of three tournaments - their own Rebel Beach Invitational at Spanish Trail Golf Club in Las Vegas at the end of February and the Jackrabbit Invitational at Boulder Creek Golf Club March 12-13. Their win at the Jackrabbit was particularly impressive as their 9-under 855 final team score was 53 strokes better than the second-place finisher at the tournament. Senior
Mackenzie Raim, playing in her last tournament in Las Vegas, carded a final round of 69 to capture her third career win, finishing alone in first at 4-under (212).
After Napa, the Rebels will have to immediately turn their attention to their next competition - the Mountain West Conference Championship, which will take place April 16-18 at Mission Hills Country Club in Rancho Mirage, California. The Scarlet and Gray will be looking for its third straight conference title and an automatic berth to its 16th straight NCAA Regional.
