Rebels In 16th After Day Two Of Silverado Showdown

NAPA, California (UNLVRebels.com) - UNLV women's golf was on the course Monday morning for the second round of the Silverado Showdown in Napa, California, and carded a score of 19-over 307 as a team. The result moved their tournament total to 32-over (608), which is good for 16th place heading into Tuesday's final round.

After carding a 2-over (74) on day one, sophomore Nastasia Kossacky shot a 5-over 77 in round two to sit in a tie for 44nd at 7-over for the tournament. Junior Elizabeth Prior and freshman Polly Mack are a shot behind Kossacky at 8-over in a tie for 53rd after shooting 77 and 76, respectively, Monday. Junior Shannon Oh will enter the final round in a tie for 60th at 9-over, followed by senior Mackenzie Raim in a tie for 75th at 13-over.

Fourth-ranked Stanford shot a tournament-best 7-under 281 to jump from a tie for fifth to outright leader after 36 holes at 1-under (575). Eighth-ranked USC, who entered the day in the top spot, is only two strokes behind the Cardinal at 1-over (577). Sixth-ranked Texas and top-ranked UCLA are tied for third after two rounds at 6-over (582), while California rounds out the top five at 8-over (584).

USC's Jennifer Chang and Stanford's Mika Liu started day two in the top two spots on the leaderboard and finished the day tied for the lead at 6-under (138).Chang's 66 in round one remains the low score of the tournament through 36 holes. Cal's Jiyoon Jang is right on their heels in third at 5-under (139), followed by a three-way tie for fourth with UCLA's Patty Tavatanakit, Arizona's Bianca Pagdanganan and Arizona State's Olivia Mehaffey all at 4-under (140).

The Silverado Showdown marks the last regular season tournament for UNLV, who will compete in the 2018 Mountain West Championship in Rancho Mirage, California, next week
The tournament, co-hosted by Oregon and Colorado, features eight teams in Golfweek's top-25.
UNLV has won two tournaments this spring, both in Las Vegas

UNLV recently recorded its second home tournament win of the 2017-18 season as they shot a 17-over at the inaugural Rebel Beach Invitational at Spanish Trail Golf Club Feb. 26-27 to win by two strokes. They also won their own Las Vegas Collegiate Showdown in October 2017
Their second tournament win this spring was a 53-stroke win at the Jackrabbit Invitational, March 12-13

Last season, UNLV won the Mountain West Championship for the second straight year
