LAS VEGAS (UNLVRebels.com) – The UNLV track & field program's
Stella Clemens,
Mackenna Howard,
Elisa Rovere,
Jaela Williams and Avi'Tal Wilson-Perteete earned U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) All-Academic honors, while the squad garnered All-Academic Team recognition behind its 3.09 cumulative grade point average.
This marks the second straight year that Clemens (junior) and Williams (junior) have been named All-Academic honorees, while Howard (sophomore) was recognized following the 2015 campaign. Both Rovere and Wilson-Perteete were freshman during the 2017-18 campaign.
Moreover, all five student-athletes were tabbed to the Spring 2018 Academic All-Mountain West Team.
Dating back to 2010-11, UNLV has claimed All-Academic Team success five times.
A total of 874 women earned USTFCCCA All-Academic honors during the 2017-18 track & field seasons. To qualify, student-athletes must have compiled a cumulative GPA of 3.25 and have met at least one one of the following athletic standards: for the indoor season, a student-athlete must have finished the regular season ranked in the national top 96 in an individual event or ranked in the national top 48 in a relay event on the official NCAA POP list; for the outdoor season, a student-athlete must have participated in any round of the NCAA Division I Championships (including preliminary rounds).
To be included on the USTFCCCA's All-Academic Team list, the squad – one of 220 women's programs recognized – must have finished highly at the respective national championship meet and have at least a 3.00 cumulative team GPA.
