COEUR D'ALENE, Idaho (UNLVRebels.com)Â -Â Playing at the Coeur D'Alene Collegiate Invitational for the first time, UNLV women's golf finished day one in the top-10 after shooting a 19-over in the first two rounds Monday at the par-71 Coeur D'Alene Resorts Golf Course. UNLV improved 17 strokes from round one to round two to sit in ninth place heading into Tuesday's final round.
Senior
Elizabeth Prior sits in a tie for 15th at 2-over, which included a 3-under 68 in round two to jump from a tie for 52nd after the first 18 holes into the top-20. Sophomore
Cathy Liu came in two strokes behind her a 4-over, which is good for a tie for 26th.
Illinois dominated day one of the event and is the only team who recorded two rounds under par. At 8-under, the Fighting Illini will carry an 18-shot lead into Tuesday. Illinois' Crystal Wang sits atop the individual board, but only holds a one-shot lead at 4-under after rounds of 70 and 68.
REBEL OF THE DAY: Prior turned in the best round of the fall for UNLV with her 3-under 68 in round two, but what was more impressive is that it came after she shot a 5-over 76 in the opening round.
