Hall Captures First Career Individual Title

No. 15 Rebels finish second as a team in Albuquerque; Hall earns co-medalist honors

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (UNLVRebels.com) - UNLV men's golf senior Harry Hall shot a final-round 2-under-par 70 Saturday and tied for the individual championship at the William H. Tucker Intercollegiate, which was hosted by New Mexico at the Championship Course (par 72, 7,555 yards). 

It marked the first individual title of Hall's career. His previous best finishes were ties for second at the 2017 National Invitational Tournament and the 2017 The Goodwin, and a second-place showing at the 2018 Southern Highlands Collegiate.

Hall finished the two-day 54-hole event Saturday at 11-under 205 along with BYU's Peter Kuest. Kuest shot 4-under during the final round. The pair finished four shots ahead of third-place finisher Joshua McCarthy (-7) from Pepperdine. 

Two other Rebels recorded top-12 finishes as sophomore Jack Trent tied for ninth at 2-under and sophomore Garrick Higgo was 12th at 1-under.

As a team, No. 15 UNLV finished second, two shots back at 14-under 850 after a final-round even-par 288. BYU won the team title at 16-under after a final-round 5-under 283. Pepperdine was third at 13-under, No. 21 Arkansas was fourth at 4-under and New Mexico rounded out the top five at 1-under.

STAT OF THE DAY: Hall began the final round with a bogey, but got back on track with four birdies throughout holes 9-18.

REBEL OF THE DAY: Hall's 2-under 70 was the lowest score by a Rebel during the final round.

There were a total of 17 teams and 100 individuals competing.

NEXT FOR THE REBELS: UNLV's next tournament will be the Jerry Pate National Intercollegiate in Alabama, Monday-Tuesday, Oct. 8-9.

REBEL NOTES: 
• UNLV has finished in the top five in both of its tournaments to open this season.
UNLV is the three-time defending Mountain West champions. 
• Last year's team also finished third at the NCAA Regional in Columbus, Ohio, and placed in the top 20 at the NCAA Championship.
• Trent earned the Mountain West Freshman of the Year award last season, while Hall, Higgo and Trent were all recognized as All-MW performers.
• Hall was named a Srixon/Cleveland Golf All-America Scholar in July.
• UNLV has played in a NCAA-record 30 straight regionals. 
• This year marks head coach Dwaine Knight's 32nd season leading the Rebel program.
