BOULDER CITY (UNLVRebels.com) - UNLV women's golf kicked opened its spring season Monday at the Battle at Boulder Creek and finished day one at the event in first place after shooting 6-over 582 as a team after the first 36 holes. Senior
Elizabeth Prior also sits alone atop the leaderboard at 2-under thanks to a 68 in round one.
The Rebels have a commanding lead of 24 strokes over second-place Southern Illinois, who shot a +30 over Monday. Drake sits in third at +57 over.
All six Rebels competing in the event sit in the top seven, led by Prior at 2-under. Freshman
Veronica Joels, who shot a 3-under 69 in round two, is two shots behind Prior at even, followed by sophomore
Polly Mack in third at 4-over and senior
Shannon Oh in fourth at 5-over. Sophomore
Cathy Liu, playing as individual, is tied for fifth at 6-over, while senior
Alyssa Getty is tied for seventh at 7-over.
REBEL OF THE DAY: Prior matched her lowest single-round score of the year, a 4-under 68, in round one. She also shot a 68 in round two of the CDA Invitational in the fall in Idaho.
NEXT UP FOR THE REBELS: The final round of the Battle at Boulder Creek gets underway Tuesday morning at 7:30 a.m.
