SEAL BEACH, CALIFORNIA (UNLVRebels.com) - The UNLV women's golf team opened play at Long Beach State's Gold Rush tournament Monday and ended the day in a tie for seventh after carding a 24-over (600) as a team. Sophomore
Polly Mack turned in the best Rebel performance of the day, shooting 1-over (145) after two rounds - also good for a tie for seventh.
Senior
Elizabeth Prior, coming off two consecutive tournament wins, is tied for 23rd after shooting a 5-over 149 Monday, followed by freshman
Veronica Joels - playing as an individual - in a tie for 31st at 7-over (151). Senior
Shannon Oh is one shot behind Joels at 8-over (152) in a tie for 38th, while sophomore
Cathy Liu sits two strokes behind Oh in a tie for 49th at 10-over (154). Senior
Alyssa Getty rounds things out in 75th at 19-over (163).
After the first two round San Jose State leads the field at 2-over, followed by Sacramento State in second at 4-over, Georgia in third at 11-over, host Long Beach State in fourth at 14-over and BYU in fifth at 17-over. SJSU's Abegail Arevalo is the leader at 7-under heading into the final round with Sacramento State's Julia Becker in second at 4-under and LBSU's Maria Davis in third at 3-under.
REBEL OF THE DAY: Mack had two consistent rounds, carding a 73 in round one and a 72 in two. She's eight shots of the lead heading into the Tuesday's third round, but she has a shot to finish in the top five.
NEXT UP FOR THE REBELS: The final round will get underway Tuesday morning at 8 a.m. PT.

• The Rebels finished second at their second annual Rebel Beach Invitational at Spanish Trail Country Club last week, which is co-hosted by Long Beach State. Prior blew out the field with a seven-shot victory for her second straight tournament win
• The Rebels opened the spring with a team win at the Battle of Boulder Creek, with Prior and Mack tying for medalist honors
• Prior and Mack were named Co-Mountain West Women's Golfers of the Week after their win at Boulder Creek, then Prior earned it a second consecutive week after her win at Rebel Beach
• Last spring, the Rebels won three consecutive MW titles for the first time since they won three in a row from 2004-06
