UNLV Places Department-Best 58 On Fall Academic Team

Rebel football represented by a program-best 28 student-athletes on the Fall 2018 Academic All-Mountain West Team.

LAS VEGAS (UNLVRebels.com) – UNLV Athletics had a department-best 58 student-athletes earn Fall 2018 Academic All-Mountain West Team recognition, the league announced today. The previous high was 52 in Fall 2018.

The Rebel football team had program-best 28 student-athletes named to the team, marking the second straight year of record-setting honorees.

The women's soccer team placed 15 of its own on the academic team, which tied the program benchmark achieved previously in 2002, 2012 and 2017.

The volleyball and cross country teams had 10 and five representatives, respectively, as well.

Overall, a league-record 703 student-athletes were named to the Fall 2018 Academic All-MW Team, 85 more than last year's best of 618.

To be eligible for selection to the Academic All-MW Team, student-athletes must have completed at least one academic term at the school, while maintaining a cumulative grade point average of 3.0 or better, and be a starter or significant contributor on their team.

Additionally, the UNLV men's soccer team had three of its own tabbed to the 2018 Academic All-WAC Team.
