LAS VEGAS (UNLVRebels.com) – UNLV Football's 2019 recruiting class has grown to 23 with the addition of junior college running back Darran Williams (5-11, 200, JR-TR) and prep school cornerback Jamel Hamm (6-3, 190, FR-HS) head coach Tony Sanchez announced Wednesday. Both signees will be eligible to compete for the Rebels this fall.
 
"We are excited about adding Jamel and Darran," said Sanchez. "We had the luxury of not being in a rush to sign everyone by February and we still have some room in the class moving forward."
 
Williams, a native of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, graduated from Edmond Santa Fe High School and played the last two seasons at Northeastern Oklahoma A&M, a junior college located in Miami, Oklahoma. In 2018, he earned NJCAA Honorable Mention All-America and Southwest Junior College Football Conference Offensive Player of the Year honors after appearing in 12 games for the Norsemen, finishing third in the nation with 1,427 yards and 13 touchdowns on the ground. His eight 100-yard rushing games as a sophomore included a 19-carry, 197-yard, three-TD effort vs. Cisco College.
 
"We've talked about wanting to bring in an older back to go with our freshman in the class," said Sanchez. "Darran is a big, strong runner with a lot of experience and will give us a lot of depth back there."
 
Hamm, a native of Cleveland, attended Glenville High School in Ohio before playing last season at Fork Union Military Academy, a post-graduate prep school located in Virginia. A three-star recruit according to 247Sports, Hamm played wide receiver, cornerback and quarterback in high school before converting solely to defensive back last fall for the Blue Devils.
 
"Jamel is a long, rangy corner who flips his hips really well for a big guy. He will give us more depth and versatility in the secondary."
             
UNLV's overall recruiting class is now made up of 12 high school players, 10 junior college transfers and one graduate transfer. The breakdown also sees 13 defensive players and 10 on offense: 5 DL, 5 DB, 4 OL, 3 LB, 3 WR, 2 RB and 1 QB.
 
The entire group consists of student-athletes whose hometowns are spread among 12 states: 10 from California, two from Nevada, a pair from Louisiana, and one each from Hawai'i, Florida, Texas, Arizona, Colorado, Georgia, Oklahoma, Ohio and South Carolina.
 
UNLV is currently in the middle of its spring practice schedule. The public is invited to attend the FREE family-friendly Spring Showcase April 6, which will kick off at noon and be held on campus at UNLV's soccer complex at Peter Johann Memorial Field.
 
UNLV Athletics announced its 2019 football season ticket renewal packages, including the new Faithful Fan Pricing initiative. Fans purchasing season tickets this year may purchase season tickets for the same price per game in the new Las Vegas Stadium opening in 2020. The Faithful Fan Price was developed to reward loyalty and is the latest in a recent string of innovative ticketing strategies UNLV has announced in the past year to increase fan engagement.
