LAS VEGAS (UNLVRebels.com) – The UNLV track & field program recorded five wins and 19 top-three finishes in 15 individual events Friday at the Mountain West Challenge, which was held at Myron Partridge Stadium & Sheila Tarr-Smith Field. The Rebels'
Kaysha Love was victorious in the 100m and 200m, while teammates
Mackenna Howard (hammer throw),
Taylor Pegram (100m hurdles),
Elisa Rovere (1500m) claimed the top spot in three other events.
Love posted a personal-best time of 23.20 en route to the 200m win, and clocked a 11.38 in the 100m triumph.
Pegram ran 13.16 for the win in the 100m hurdles, and also partnered with
Alexis Surrell,
Jaela Williams and Amari Prude on the second-place 4x100m relay (46.58).
Rovere ran 4:48.92 to claim first overall in the 1500m, and 2:12.57 for a runner-up finish in the 800m. She ran the final leg of the second-place 4x400m relay (3:57.74) with Prude, Surrell and
Gizelle Reid.
Not only did Howard register a winning mark of 170-1 (51.84m) in the hammer, but she was second in the shot put (49-5.75/15.08m) and third in the discus (131-11/40.20m).
The Scarlet & Gray also got second-place performances from
Jasmyne Graham in both the 100m hurdles (13.22) and the 400m hurdles (1:03.27). Additionally,
Emerald Bowens (100m: 11.73),
Avi'Tal Wilson-Perteete (400m: 54.60) and
Cassidy Osborne-Butler (hammer: 159-6/48.61 PB) were second in their respective events, too.
Jade Lewis (11.87),
Jada Hicks (13.36) and
Jartierra Grissom (5-7.75/1.72m) posted third-place finishes and personal bests in the 100m, 100m hurdles and high jump.
MW CHALLENGE SCORING: Friday's Mountain West Challenge was contested between the UNR Wolf Pack, San Diego State Aztecs and host UNLV. The squads were only allowed to count their two finishers towards the scoring in each event. The Wolf Pack won the event by six points (187-181-181) over the top-two finishes from the 2018 MW Outdoor Championships, the Aztecs and Rebels.

NEXT TIME OUT: UNLV will take a week off before it reconvenes in Southern California at the Bryan Clay Invitational (April 17-19) and Mt. SAC Relays (April 19-20).
REBEL NOTES:
- The Rebels had 11 collegiate personal-best marks recorded Friday.
