Mack Climbs Into Top 25 On Day Two Of NCAA Cle Elum Regional

Sophomore Polly Mack shoots a 2-under 70, senior Elizabeth Prior cards a 3-over 75 in round two

CLE ELUM, WASHINGTON (UNLVRebels.com) -  UNLV women's golf sophomore Polly Mack and senior Elizabeth Prior continued play Tuesday in the second round of the NCAA regional at Tumble Creek Golf in Cle Elum, Washington. 

Mack shot a 2-under 70 to jump from a tie for 64th to a tie for 22nd at 3-over through the first two rounds, while Prior carded a 3-over to move up 10 spots into a tie for 64th at 9-over for the tournament. 

The third and final round will get underway Wednesday morning at 9:20 a.m. for both Mack and Prior, with Mack starting on hole one and Prior on hole 10.  

No. 1 ranked USC entered day two with a three-shot lead and extended that lead to 12 shots at 10-under (566) with the only under-par team round of the day. Regional host Washington checks in at second place at 2-over (578), followed by San Jose State in third at 6-over (582), Arkansas in fourth at 7-over (583) and Northwestern in fifth at 10-over (586). Ohio State and UCF are tied for the coveted sixth spot at 12-over (588) heading into the final round.

USC's Jennifer Chang jumped to the top of the individual leaderboard at 7-under (137) after shooting a 5-under 67 in round two, but only holds a one-shot lead over Washington's Reno Sasaki and UCF's Anna Laura Collado, who are tied for second at 6-under (138). Oregon's Kathleen Scavo is close behind in fourth at 5-under (139) followed by Ohio State's Aneka Seumanutafa in fifth at 4-under (140).

The top six teams and the top three individuals not on those teams will advance to the 2019 NCAA Championships, which are set for May 17-22 in Fayetteville, Arkansas.
