Runnin' Rebel Series With Cal Announced

UNLV men's basketball will travel to Berkeley this season, Golden Bears to visit Thomas & Mack Center during 2020-21 campaign.

LAS VEGAS (UNLVRebels.com) - The UNLV men's basketball team will play the Pac-12's California in a home-and-home series beginning this season, Director of Athletics Desiree Reed-Francois announced Wednesday.

The Runnin' Rebels, under first-year head coach T.J. Otzelberger, will face the Golden Bears in Berkeley, California, on Tuesday, November 12, 2019, while the return game of the two-year series is scheduled for the Thomas & Mack Center on Saturday, November 14, 2020.

"We know how important having a competitive, attractive schedule is to our fan base," Reed-Francois said. "We live in one of the world's great destinations and we look forward to continuing to enhance our schedule in the years ahead."

UNLV is 5-2 all-time vs. Cal in men's basketball. The last meeting took place in the 2013 NCAA Tournament in San Jose, California. Earlier that season, UNLV won at Cal by a point. The last meeting between the two programs at the Thomas & Mack Center occurred on Dec. 23, 2011, an 85-68 UNLV win. The Runnin' Rebels are 2-0 all-time at Cal and 3-1 against the Golden Bears at home.
