LAS VEGAS (UNLVRebels.com) – One of the nation's top individual tournaments returns as players from a select group of elite college programs from across the United States, including host UNLV, will gather in Las Vegas this weekend for the 18th Annual Freeman Memorial Women's Tennis Championships at the Fertitta Tennis Complex on campus.
 
Individual competitors will be supplied by teams ranked in the top 12 in the season's initial ITA rankings: No. 1 Stanford, No. 2 North Carolina, No. 6 Pepperdine and No. 11 Oklahoma State. Host UNLV is scheduled to provide six singles players and three doubles teams.
 
Action begins with doubles each day at 10 a.m. PST on Friday and Saturday with the finals scheduled for Sunday. Admission to all matches is free. This year's Freeman features one flight each of both singles and doubles along with consolation rounds.
 
Last year's event saw Texas' 53rd-ranked Petra Granic down Pepperdine's Adriana Lejai, 3-6, 6-3, 6-2, for the top flight singles title while host UNLV won its first championship at the Freeman as Aiwen Zhu and En-Pei Huang defeated Texas' Fernanda Labrana and Bojana Markovic, 6-2, in the doubles final.
