Game Recap: Men's Basketball |

Runnin' Rebels Three-Game Win Streak Snapped At UNR

Bryce Hamilton and Amauri Hardy combined for 49 points in 86-72 loss in Reno Wednesday night.

RENO, Nev. (UNLVRebels.com) - The UNLV men's basketball team had its three-game win streak snapped Wednesday night as it suffered an 86-72 loss at UNR.

Sophomore guard Bryce Hamilton and junior guard Amauri Hardy combined for 49 points on 19 of 38 shooting, but the rest of the Runnin' Rebels went 4 of 26 for 23 points.

UNLV (11-10, 6-2) lost for just the second time in its last nine games.

UNR (12-8, 5-3) had four players score in double figures, led by Jalen Harris' 28 points.

SHOOTING PERCENTAGES: UNLV struggled with its shooting in the first half, connecting on just 24.2 percent (8 of 33) of its field goals and 15.4 percent (2 of 13) of its 3-pointers. The Runnin' Rebels improved those numbers in the second half, but UNR was 13 of 25 (52 percent) over the final 20 minutes from the field and 6 of 12 (50 percent) on 3-pointers.

SECOND-HALF SCORING: UNLV trailed UNR by just six at the half, 33-27, but allowed the Wolf Pack to score 53 points over the rest of the game.

TAKING CONTROL: UNLV cut its deficit to just two points at 40-38 with 16:30 to go, but UNR used an 11-2 run at that point to take control of the game.

QUOTABLE: "We knew coming in that their guards were dynamic. We needed to do a great job locating them early, taking them off the 3-point line and getting stops. If we were able to do that, we thought we could get out and run, but we weren't successful in that endeavor so we were playing from behind the majority of the night. They hit some shots early to open the game up. We knew we were going to have some of those same shots that we didn't hit early and then that gave them that separation." - UNLV head coach T.J. Otzelberger
