Rebel Netters Move To 10-0 For First Time

Seattle

LAS VEGAS (UNLVRebels.com) –
The UNLV men's tennis team improved to 10-0 for first time by sweeping a Sunday doubleheader at the Fertitta Tennis Complex. The Rebels blanked Seattle 7-0 in the afternoon match in what was the first meeting between the two programs.

With the Redhawks (0-7) only able to field five healthy players, UNLV was awarded forfeit wins on court three of doubles and court six of singles before the first serve. The Rebels earned the doubles point with wins on the top two courts.

In singles play, the hosts clinched things with a pair of straight-set wins and eventually triumphed on every court.

REBEL OF THE MATCH: Freshman Jack Atherton out of Tulsa, Oklahoma, earned his first dual-match victory as a Rebel with a 6-0, 6-2 win over Juan Jaramillo on court five.

QUOTABLE: "A lot of tennis in the last four days for us and there were plenty of positives and areas to keep improving. Thanks to everyone who came out to support us during this homestand. It's much appreciated."
-UNLV Head Coach Owen Hambrook

NEXT FOR THE REBELS: UNLV will take a week off before heading to Tempe to play its first road match of the season, facing Arizona State on Feb. 28 starting at 3 p.m.
