PEORIA, Arizona (UNLVRebels.com) -
The UNLV women's golf team shot a 1-under 287 on the final day of the Westbrooke Invite Monday to finish with its best three-round score of the year at 9-under 855, placing sixth at the event. It was the first time since the Battle of Boulder Creek in March of 2017 that the Rebels carded under-par scores as a team in all three rounds.

The two day tournament was hosted by Wisconsin and took place at the Westbrook Village Golf Club (par 72, 6,252-yards) in Peoria, Arizona. The Rebels opened the event Sunday with two rounds under par, with the second-round 5-under 283 matching their best single-round team score of the year.

Three Rebels - juniors Samantha Fuller and Cathy Liu and freshman Elina Saksa - entered the final round in a tie for 12th after each carded a score of 4-under on day one. Fuller shot a 2-under 70 Tuesday to finish where she started in a tie for 12th at 6-under 210, marking two straight tournament finishes with an under-par score. Liu played the best golf of her Rebel career as she turned in a 1-under 71 in the final round to finish in a tie for 15th at 5-under 211 - eight shots better than her previous three-round tournament-best. Saksa came in one shot behind Liu in a tie for 17th at 4-under 212 after an even round Monday.

The last time three Rebels finish with under-par scores in the same tournament was the 2016 Las Vegas Collegiate Showdown when all five Rebels accounting for the team score finished under par (Alexandra Kaui -5; Harley Dubsky -5; Elizabeth Prior -4; Mackenzie Raim -2; and Shannon Oh -1).

Oklahoma started the day with a one-shot lead over Mississippi State after a two-round score of 25-under, but the Bulldogs got the better of the Sooners, edging them out by one shot to win the event at 32-under 832. Oklahoma took second at 31-under 833, followed by College of Charleston in third 17-under 847, Denver in fourth at 16-under 848 and Tennessee in fifth at 13-under 851.

Individually, Denver's Anna Zanusso came away with a three-shot victory at 16-under 200 after her second-round 61 set a course record. Oklahoma's Ellen Secorm, Mississippi State's Ashley Gilliam and Nebraska's Katie Smith all tied for second at 13-under 203.

STAT OF THE DAY: UNLV's 54-hole score was the lowest for the program since the Rebels shot a 9-under in a win at the Jackrabbit Invite in March of 2018.

REBEL OF THE DAY: Fuller, who transferred to UNLV this fall, turned in her lowest tournament score as a Rebel - a 6-under 210 - after rounds of 69, 71 and 70.

NEXT FOR THE REBELS: The Rebels will have a bit of a break before their next event when they return to Arizona, this time for University of Arizona's Wildcat Invite, March 9-10 in Tucson, Arizona.

NOTABLE:
• The Rebels are playing in the Westbrook Invite for the first time since the 2015-16 season
• UNLV has a new look with just two returners from last year's roster. Six new faces have joined the 2019-20 squad.
• Prior to the 2018-19 season, UNLV had won three straight Mountain West titles and made a NCAA postseason appearance in 16 consecutive years.
• Head coach Amy Bush-Herzer is in her ninth year at the helm of the program. She has led her team to a conference championship four times.
