LAS VEGAS (UNLVRebels.com) – The UNLV Rebels hit the road for a two-game, midweek series in Lubbock, Texas, against the Texas Tech Red Raiders at Dan Law Field and Rip Griffin Park. The Red Raiders are ranked as high as No. 2 by Baseball America, and sit in the top five of four other top-25 polls.
The series begins Tuesday at 6:30 pm CT (4:30 pm PT) and concludes Wednesday at 1:00 pm CT (11:00 am PT).

HISTORICALLY SPEAKING: UNLV and Texas Tech rekindle a series that dates back to 1986 and has featured the teams play a total of 18 times, with 10 of those contested in Las Vegas and eight in Lubbock, Texas. The Rebels and Red Raiders sit deadlocked at 9-all; however, the latter has won three straight and five of the last seven meetings.
UNLV and Texas Tech first played a two-game series in Las Vegas during the 1986 campaign (March 2-5) with a pair of one-run contests – 5-4 and 15-14 (10 innings) won by the Rebels. The Scarlet & Gray managed to win six of the first seven affairs played through 2008, but things turned in 2009 with the Red Raiders rattling off a 7-3 stretch to draw even.
Most recently, the Mountain West and Big 12 squads squared off March 21-22, 2017 in Lubbock. Texas Tech won game one, 5-2, but needed 10 innings to get past UNLV, 5-4, in the second tilt.
ON DECK: UNLV returns to Las Vegas and Earl E. Wilson Stadium for a three-game, nonconference series against the St. John's Red Storm this weekend. This will mark the second straight home series the Rebels will have hosted against a squad from the Big East after welcoming the Creighton Bluejays to town this past weekend.
The teams will open up play Friday at 6:05 pm. Games two and three are set for Saturday at 2:05 pm and Sunday at 1:05 pm.
SCOUTING THE REBELS: UNLV (3-8) enters the midweek series after taking two of three against the Creighton Bluejays at Earl E. Wilson Stadium. The Rebels knocked off the Bluejays in games one, 6-4, and three, 12-3, but was unable to hold onto the middle affair, watching the visitors from Omaha, Nebraska, storm back to win, 4-3, in 11 innings.
-The Rebels are hitting .251 as a team with 98 hits, 35 of which have gone for extra bases (24 doubles, six triples and five home runs), as well as 55 runs and 51 RBI.
-The Rebels are ranked in the top 100 of the most recent NCAA statistics (as of March 1): 11th in triples (six); 15th in triples per game (0.55); 30th in doubles per game (2.18); 33rd in doubles (24); and 90th in hits (98).

-Not only does Bigani lead the team in average, but he's also tops hits (16), RBI (nine) and total bases (23), while tying for first in doubles (five) … He's second in runs (seven) … Six of his hits have gone for extra bases (five doubles and one triple) to aid in a .511 slugging percentage … In the NCAA statistics, he is 51st in doubles
-Robbins leads the team in extra-base hits with seven (four doubles and three triples), which has led to the second-best slugging percentage on the team (.579) … He also leads the team in hit-by-pitches (three) and is second in RBI (eight).
-Kryszczuk is first in slugging percentage (.600) with help from two home runs out of a total of six hits, and on-base percentage (.464) with assistance from six walks and one hit-by-pitch.

SCOUTING THE RED RAIDERS: Texas Tech (11-1) enters the midweek series riding a seven-game win streak, which dates back to a 7-2 win over Stanford at the Round Rock Classic on Feb. 22. This steak also includes victories over Houston (3-2 in 10 innings), Southern (13-2 and 10-3), Florida Atlantic (7-1) and Florida State (6-5 in 11 and 4-3).
-The Red Raiders are hitting .326 as a team with 139 hits, 56 of which have gone for extra bases (33 doubles, 19 home runs and four triples), as well as 117 runs and 110 RBI.
