TUCSON, Ariz. (UNLVRebels.com) - UNLV men's golf senior J.J. Gresco shot an opening-round 1-over-par 72 on Monday at the season-opening Arizona Intercollegiate and sits in an eighth-place tie.
The event is being played at the Sewailo Golf Club (par 71, 7,292 yards).
As a team, the Rebels are in fifth place after shooting 18-over 302. Arizona leads the event by 12 shots at even-par 284, while New Mexico is second at 12-over, Wake Forest is third at 15-over and Oregon is fourth at 16-over. There are a total of 17 teams competing.
Individually, Arizona's Brad Reeves leads by two shots at 3-under 68, while there is a two-way tie for second at 1-under between Trevor Werbylo of Arizona and Lachlan Barker of Iowa State.

Jack Trent are both in the top 20, in a tie for 11th at 2-over and a tie for 20th at 4-over, respectively.
Gresco's round consisted of four birdies, three bogeys and a double bogey on Monday, while Rauch had two birdies, two bogeys and a double bogey, and Trent had a birdie and five bogeys.
UNLV sophomore 
George Leigh and 
Justin Kim, who is in his fifth year as a Rebel, are also competing at the event, which includes 96 golfers.
NEXT FOR THE REBELS: The tournament will continue with round two on Tuesday and a final 18 holes on Wednesday.
