SAN MARCOS, TX (UNLVRebels.com) - The UNLV women's golf team continued its strong week, carding a 3-under 573 through the first two rounds of the Jim West Invitational Sunday at the Kissing Tree Golf Club to sit in a tie for sixth heading into Monday's final round.The event, hosted by Texas State, is being streamed live on ESPN+.
UNLV shot a 1-over 289 as a team in the opening round, then followed that up with their best single-round team score of the fall, a 4-under 284 to get to 3-under after Sunday's 36 holes. Freshman
Sydney Bryan stayed hot after her first career collegiate victory last week, shooting a 2-under 142, which included a 3-under 69 in round two to sit tied for 16th overall. Fellow freshman
Hina Matsui is tied for 27th at even, followed by senior
Veronica Joels and freshman
Kendall Todd in a tie for 31st at 1-over 145. Junior
Nicole Lorup is one shot behind Joels and Todd in a tie for 36th at 2-over.
It was a day of low scores on the course as Oklahoma State turned in a masterful performance to get to 29-under 547 with a 10-shot lead heading into Monday. TCU sits in second at 19-under, followed by Florida State in third at 15-under, Texas Tech in fourth at 9-under, Miami in fifth at 8-under and Oklahoma and UNLV tied for sixth at 3-under.
Oklahoma State's Caley McGinty and TCU's Caitlyn McNab lead the way individually as the pair are tied atop the leaderboard at 12-under. Florida State's Alice Hodge is two shots behind them at 10-under, followed by OSU's Isabella Fierro and 8-under in fourth place, while four players are tied for fifth at 5-under.
UP NEXT: The final round will begin with a shotgun start at 8:30 a.m. CT and be broadcast live on ESPN+.
