David Rauch Ties For Fifth In Dallas

Rebels finish 10th as a team at Trinity Forest Invitational, hosted by SMU.

DALLAS (UNLVRebels.com) UNLV men's golf senior David Rauch shot a final-round 1-under-par 70 Tuesday to finish in a tie for fifth place at the Trinity Forest Invitational, which was hosted by SMU at Trinity Forest Golf Club (par 71, 7,330 yards).

Rauch shot under par in all three rounds (69-70-70), finishing the event with 11 birdies and an eagle.

SMU's Noah Goodwin ran away with medalist honors at 15-under 198 (67-65-66), finishing seven shots ahead of Little Rock's Jansen Smith and UT Arlington's Paul Gonzalez who both tied for second at 8-under. UNLV sophomore Caden Fioroni also finished in the top 15 as he was 2-under (13th place).

SMU also won the team title with a 54-hole score of 26-under 826.  The Mustangs shot a final-round low of 10-under and finished 18 shots ahead of second-place UT Arlington (-8). Little Rock and Middle Tennessee State tied for third at 4-under and North Texas rounded out the top five at 1-over. The Rebels finished 10th at 21-over.

There were 14 teams competing at the tournament, which included 78 individuals.

NEXT FOR UNLV: The Rebels will close out their fall season next week at UNR's Wolf Pack Classic, which is being played at Reno's Hidden Valley Country Club.
