Rebels Place Eight Individuals, One Relay On All-MW Team

UNLV track & field’s Cassondra Hall earned all-conference honors twice as an individual and once as a member of the 4x100m relay.

LAS VEGAS (UNLVRebels.com) – The UNLV track & field program placed eight individuals and its 4x100m relay team on the 2021 Mountain West Outdoor Track & Field All-Conference Team.

UNLV's Cassondra Hall, Jazlynn Shearer and Jonon Young earned all-conference recognition individually twice over. Hall was runner-up in both the 100m and 200m, and ran a leg of the second-place 4x100m relay, too. Young won both the long jump and triple jump, while Shearer was second in both the long jump and 100m hurdles.

Joining Hall on the 4x100m relay were teammates DeAndra Greer, Kaysha Love and Tianna Randle. Love claimed All-MW Team honors for her third-place finish in the 100m.

The Scarlet & Gray was also represented by Rosalie Breems in the 100m hurdles (third place), Gaby Palmer in the pole vault (first), Alia Scott in the 400m hurdles (third), Avi'Tal Wilson-Perteete in the 800m (second).

The Rebels finished third overall at the three-day conference meet, which was held at Veteran's Memorial Stadium in Clovis, California, this past weekend. UNLV accumulated 122 total points with 12 podium finishes, which included three event wins (long jump, triple jump and pole vault), six runner-up performances and three third-place showings. The team hauled in 22 points in the 100m final alone, claiming, second, third and fourth place as well as sixth.

All-MW Team honors are awarded to those individuals and relay teams that place in the top three in an event at the outdoor meet.

NOTES:
-Young became the first athlete to win both the long jump and triple jump in the same year since San Diego State's Shanieka Thomas in 2013.
-In the long jump, Young and Shearer recorded personal-best wind-legal measurements, as the former jumped 20-4.25 (6.20m) to the former's mark of 19-10.75 (6.06m).
-Palmer broke her own program record in the pole vault, once again, with her event-winning height of 13-7.75 (4.16m).
