LAS VEGAS (UNLVRebels.com) – The UNLV track & field program will be represented at the 2020 U.S. Olympic Trials in Eugene, Oregon, by
Cassondra Hall and
Avi'Tal Wilson-Perteete as well as Rebel alumna Destiny Smith-Barnett. The trio will participate at the 10-day meet (June 18-27) at the University of Oregon's Hayward Field with hopes of competing for the Red, White & Blue in Tokyo next month.
Smith-Barnett, who ran for UNLV from 2015-19 and was an All-American twice in the indoor 60m (2019 First Team and 2017 Second Team) and once in the outdoor 100m (Second Team), opens up the Scarlet & Gray's stay in the Pacific Northwest in the first round of the 100m at 6:37 pm Friday. The semifinals and final of the event will take place Saturday at 6:03 pm and 7:51 pm, respectively.
Hall and Wilson-Perteete will have to wait until Thursday to make their second trip this month to Eugene and Hayward Field after competing in the 2021 NCAA Outdoor Championships last weekend (June 9-12). The Rebel duo earned USTFCCCA All-America Team accolades, as Hall was named a two-time Second Team performer after finishing ninth in the 200m and 16th in the 100m, while Wilson-Perteete was seventh in the 800m to claim First Team honors.
Both Rebels will run in back-to-back events on June 24, with Hall taking to the track first in the 200m (6:31 pm), while Wilson-Perteete will follow in the 800m at 7:00 pm. The semifinals for each event will take place one day later on June 25; however, the final of the 200m is slated for June 26 and the 800m is on June 27.
The U.S. Olympic Trials will be broadcast live with NBC and NBCSN providing coverage, while NBCOlympics.com and the NBC Sports app will present exclusive streaming coverage of select field events.
