UNLV opens its 54th season of football by hosting Eastern Washington for the first time in history Thursday night in the first college football game with full-capacity ever staged at Allegiant Stadium ... The Rebels played in their new home last fall but two of those games were limited to just 2,000 fans while a third allowed no fans at all because of Covid-19 protocols ... The game will be shown by Stadium and available online at unlvrebels.com and on various Sinclair stations, including Cox channel 90 in Las Vegas ... UNLV head coach Marcus Arroyo looks for his first win leading the Rebels ... UNLV is 10-7 all-time in games played on Thursday, including taking its last two ... The Rebels are 24-29 all-time in season lid-lifters, including 19-9 when they happen at home ... UNLV's Super Senior RB Charles Williams needs 60 more yards to become just the fourth Rebel to reach 3,000 on the ground in a career ... The Chuck Wagon heads into the season with the most career net rushing yards gained on the FBS level among all current players. Only former Georgia Southern and current Louisville QB Shai Werts has more (two current FBS RBs also have more yards but a majority of them were gained on the FCS level before transferring).  

REBELS vs. EAGLES NOTES... 
UNLV takes on EWU on the football field for the first time Thursday and the Rebels open a season by playing a first-time opponent for the first time since hosting Minnesota of the Big Ten in 2012 ... UNLV's season debut takes place on a non-Saturday for the first time since hosting Jackson State on a Labor Day Weekend Thursday in 2016 ... The Rebels are 36-15-1 all-time vs. teams currently making up the Big Sky Conference, including taking their most-recent meeting vs. Southern Utah to open the 2019 campaign, 56-23 ... UNLV faces a team nicknamed the Eagles for the first time since staging a home-and-home series vs. Eastern Michigan in 1994-95 ... The only other Eagles to take on the football Rebels were the Tennessee Tech Golden Eagles in 1985 ... The Cal State Los Angeles Golden Eagles were known as the Diablos when UNLV played them in football three times in the early 1970s.
