LAS VEGAS (UNLVRebels.com) – UNLV women's soccer will enter the third week of the regular season looking to extend its winning streak, hosting California Baptist Thursday at Peter Johann Memorial Field at noon before traveling to Phoenix to take on Grand Canyon Sunday, also at noon, to close out the weekend. The Rebels will be looking for their first four-game winning streak since the 2018 season.

After a hard-fought loss in the season opener, UNLV has reeled off three straight wins over UC Davis, Southern Utah and UC San Diego to move to 3-1 on the year. The Rebels will hope to carry the momentum from Sunday's 3-2 come-from-behind win in overtime against the Tritons into this weekend's contests. That victory came by way of the golden goal by redshirt junior Hevani Haunga, who netted all three goals in the game for the program's seventh hat trick all time. For her performance she earned her first career Mountain West Offensive Player of the Week honor.

Overall the UNLV offense has been clicking as its 10 goals and 60 shots each lead the league through two weekends, while its four assists is second. Seven different Rebels have scored through four games, led by Haunga, with five different players collecting assists, led by senior defender Alyssa Granados with two.

California Baptist comes to Las Vegas at 1-2 overall, coming off its first win of the season, a 1-0 victory at Incarnate Ward. Grand Canyon is also 3-1 through its first four games and will play at Northern Arizona Friday before hosting the Rebels Sunday.

Fans can follow the games through the live stats link and on UNLVRebels.com and in-game updates via Twitter on the official team account @UNLVwSoccer. Sunday's match at Grand Canyon will be streamed on ESPN+. A subscription is required to watch.

For Thursday's home game, admission is $6 per adult when purchased in advance of game day and free for kids in high school or younger. Season and single-game tickets can be purchased at UNLVTickets.com.

News & Notes

  • UNLV opened the season at home for the ninth time in the last 11 seasons and 16th time since the program's inaugural year in 1998.
  • The 2021 campaign marks head coach Jenny Ruiz-Williams' second season at the helm of the Rebel women's soccer program.
  • After seeing only four players record hat tricks five times over the first 22 seasons in program history, two Rebels have now done it just over a season into Ruiz-Williams' era. Hevani Haunga accomplished the feat against UC San Diego and sophomore Nailah Harper did it during her freshman campaign in the spring of 2021 at San Jose State
  • Ruiz-Williams is the first UNLV women's soccer alumnae to lead the program
  • In the conference-only spring 2021 season, UNLV went 5-4-1 overall and finished tied for fourth in league standings
