MONTEREY, CA (UNLVRebels.com) - The UNLV women's golf team tee'd off in its second tournament of the 2021 fall season Monday, playing two rounds at The Molly Collegiate in Seaside, California. The two-day 54-hole tournament hosted by Cal is taking place at the Bayonet Golf Course on the Par-72 6,218-yard Bayonet and Blackhorse courses.
As a team, the Rebels sit in 10th place through the first 36 holes, carding a 43-over 619. Junior
Nicole Lorup and freshman
Kendall Todd were UNLV's top performers over the two rounds Monday, each carding a nine-over 153 to sit tied for 30th heading into Tuesday's final round. Senior
Veronica Joels, seeing her first action of the season, checked in two shots behind Lorup and Todd at 11-over 155, good for a tie for 39th. Freshman
McKenzi Hall shot a 14-over 158 to sit tied for 50th, followed by sophomore
Madeleine Laux, who ended the day in a tie for 72nd at 20-over.
Fellow Mountain West member San Jose State and Pac-12 member UCLA each turned in team rounds of 15-over 591 Monday to share the top of the leaderboard with one round to play. Stanford is in third at 21-over, followed by Oregon State in fourth at 23-over and Cal in fifth at 35-over. UCLA's Zoe Campos holds a slim one stroke lead at 1-under over Cal's Minka Jin at even, while four are tied for at 1-over. Tuesday's medalist competition will be heated as seven players sit within four shots of the lead.
Tuesday's final round will begin at 8 a.m. PT with a shotgun start.
NOTES:
• UNLV has six returners from last year's squad and welcomed six newcomers to squad this fall - four of which competed in the opening tournament in New Mexico
• Lorup, a transfer from Denmark, was UNLV's top finisher in New Mexico, tying for sixth at 2-under

Amy Bush-Herzer is in her 11th year at the helm of the program. She has led her team to a conference championship four times.
