MONTEREY, CA (UNLVRebels.com) - The UNLV women's golf team wrapped up The Molly Collegiate in Seaside, California, with the final round of the event Tuesday, finishing in ninth as a team at 56-over 920. The two-day tournament took place at the Bayonet Golf Course on the Par-72 6,218-yard Bayonet and Blackhorse courses.
Senior and Las Vegas native
Veronica Joels started the day in a tie for 39th and jumped up into a tie for 24th after shooting a 1-over 73 in the final round. She was the highest Rebel finisher on the leaderboard with a three-round score of 12-over 228. Freshman
Kendall Todd, playing in her second career tournament, was one shot back of Joels, finishing in a tie for 28th at 13-over 229. Fellow freshman
McKenzi Hall also shot her best round of the event Tuesday, a 3-over 75, to tie for 43rd at 17-over 233. She was followed by junior transfer
Nicole Lorup in a tie for 45th at 18-over 234. Sophomore
Madeleine Laux rounded it out in a tie for 70th at 25-over 241.
In the team competition, Stanford jumped from third to the top of the leaderboard after a final round of 6-under to win the tournament at 14-over 878. San Jose State and UCLA each shot a 21-over 885 to finish tied for second, followed by host California in fourth at 26-over 890 and Oregon State in fifth at Oregon State at 40-over 904. Stanford's Rose Zhang took medalis honors as the only golfer to finish under par, carding a 3-under for a three-shot win. Her teammate Caroline Sturdza and SJSU's Natasha Andrea Oon each shot even over the 54-holes to finish tied for second, while Cal's Minka Jin finished in fourth.
UP NEXT: The Rebels will have a weekend off before heading to Oklahoma for Tulsa's Dale McNamara Invitational on Monday, October 11 and Tuesday, October 12.
NOTES:
• UNLV has six returners from last year's squad and welcomed six newcomers to squad this fall - four of which competed in the opening tournament in New Mexico
• Lorup, a transfer from Denmark, was UNLV's top finisher in New Mexico, tying for sixth at 2-under

Amy Bush-Herzer is in her 11th year at the helm of the program. She has led her team to a conference championship four times.
