SAN MARCOS, Texas (UNLVRebels.com) – UNLV women's golf sophomore
McKenzi Hall shot a final-round even par Monday to finish in the top 25 at the Jim West Challenge hosted by Texas State at Kissing Tree Golf Club (Par 72, 6,132 yards).
Hall, who notched her first top-25 finish of the fall, bookended her 54-hole score of 217 with her second even-par round of the event. Following her in the Rebel scoring, freshman
Thienna Huynh (+6) tied for 38th,
Veronica Joels (+7) moved up 10 spots to tie for 49th, while senior
Nicole Lorup (+9) and sophomore
Toa Yokoyama tied for 55th.
As a team, the Rebels climbed two spots up the team leaderboard after scoring a final-round par 288 to finish in 11th place (+19). Their final-round (288) and overall tournament tally of 883 were season-best team scores for a single round and entire 54-hole event.
The individual title was shared by Tulane's Carla Bernat and Houston's Moa Svedenskiold, who each shot an 8-under for the tournament. The top-5 list of finishers also included TCU's Caitlyn Macnab (-7) in third, as well as Tulsa's Grace Kilcrease (-5), SMU's Mackenzie Lee (-5) and Oklahoma's Mikhaela Fortuna (-5) in a tie for fourth.
Taking home the team trophy, Oklahoma State placed first with a 9-under 855 to finish two strokes ahead of second-place SMU (-7). Houston (-3), Texas Tech (-1) and Tulane (+1) followed in third, fourth and fifth, respectively,
