LAS VEGAS (UNLVRebels.com) – UNLV volleyball's Isabel Martin was named Honorable Mention All-American by the American Volleyball Coaches Association's (AVCA), the organization announced Wednesday. Martin was also chosen to the AVCA's Pacific South All-Region Team and selected the Mountain West's Player of the Year earlier this season.
The redshirt junior from Mauerstetten, Bavaria, Germany, joins Mariena Hayden and Lauren Miramontes as the only Rebels to claim the AVCA All-America accolades. Hayden earned the honors in back-to-back seasons (Spring 2021, Fall 2021), making her the only Rebel in program history to earn the honors twice, and Miramontes was selected in 2007 after guiding UNLV to a Mountain West Championship title and its first ever NCAA Tournament appearance.Â
The outside hitter led the Rebels to a Mountain West Regular-Season Championship title and an RPI of 24, earning a ticket to the 2022 NCAA Tournament and the Rebels' fifth consecutive postseason tournament. Martin was named MW Offensive Player of the Week on two occasions this season, Oct. 31 and Nov. 7. Isabel collected 10 double-doubles this season and also recorded 27 double-figure kill matches, which included a career-high 21 vs. Wichita State (Sept. 8). She also notched 12 matches with a .300 or better hitting efficiency, including a .542 effort against Boise State (Oct. 15). Defensively, she had at least 10 or more digs in 13 outings, including a career-high 25 at Air Force (Oct. 8).Â
Martin ended the season ranked second in the conference for both kills per set (3.88) and points per set (4.40) and accumulated a total of 435 kills, 271 digs, 21 aces, 62 total blocks and 492.5 points scored.Â
