Lady Rebels Look To Shake Up Stillwater

UNLV visits Oklahoma State Sunday at 1 p.m. PT

LAS VEGAS (UNLVRebels.com) — UNLV women's basketball concludes a four-game road stretch with its second-ever visit to Stillwater, Oklahoma, on Sunday, Dec. 18.

UNLV (9-1) and Oklahoma State (8-2) tip off at Gallagher-Iba Arena at 1 p.m. PT.

It is the first meeting between the Cowgirls and Lady Rebels since 2008. Ranked No. 52 in the latest NET, OSU represents UNLV's most formidable opponent thus far this season. A victory would be UNLV's second in its last 17 matchups against Power 5 conference opponents.

Under Lindy La Rocque, UNLV is one of the best road teams in the country, carrying a 21-5 record on hostile courts since she became head coach prior to the 2020-21 season.

Oklahoma State is led by first-year head coach Jacie Hoyt, who previously coached at Kansas City. The Cowgirls are one of the nation's most experienced squads and start three fifth-year seniors and two juniors. OSU averages 26 3-point attempts per game.

Broadcast Information

Live video of the game will be streamed on ESPN+. Fans can also listen to UNLV's live audio featuring play-by-play from Wyatt Tomchek free on Stretch.

Young Approaching 1,000 Career Points

Junior center Desi-Rae Young is 11 points shy of 1,000 in her career. She will become the 26th player at UNLV to reach the milestone. Should she reach 1,000 in Sunday's game at Oklahoma State, it will be in her 68th career game. Only four Lady Rebels have scored 1,000 points in fewer games (Linda Frohlich, Pauline Jordan, Debra Waddy, Randee Henry).

"NET" Gains

Part of the NCAA's NET rankings that have replaced RPI as a determining factor in tournament bids and seeding is points per possession efficiency. Through nine non-conference games in 2022-23, UNLV is averaging 114.7 points per 100 possessions compared to 90.2 for its opponents. Last year in non-conference play, UNLV rated 103.7 to 89.3. This is an 11 percent improvement.

Board Games

UNLV has rebounded 39 percent of its own missed field goals and 78 percent of its opponent's misses. When applying current second-chance effective shooting, UNLV has a 24 percent chance to score off its own miss while opponents have just a seven percent chance to do the same.
