LAS VEGAS (UNLVRebels.com) – More than 70 UNLV student-athletes from 12 teams gathered at the Boy Scouts campus to hold a sports clinic for over 350 underprivileged youth Thursday as part of the 27th annual Las Vegas Rotary Club Santa Clothes event.

"It's a great opportunity for our student-athletes to give back to a lot of the youth of Las Vegas," said UNLV Director of Athletics Erick Harper. "Just to engage and interact with them shows these kids positive examples as athletes and students of UNLV who engage with them and the community."

Representing UNLV Athletics along with several members from the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC), the baseball, cheer, men's golf, women's golf, men's soccer, women's soccer, men's and women's swimming and diving, softball, men's tennis, women's tennis and track and field teams led the young participants in activities related to their sports at several stations. Also helping out with the sports clinic was the school's rugby club.

Following the activities, the children were greeted with messages from Harper and UNLV President Keith E. Whitfield, who spoke about the importance of academics and their future success.
