TUCSON, ARIZONA (UNLVRebels.com) - The UNLV women's golf team wrapped up the Mountain View Collegiate Sunday, finishing in a tie for 10th at 7-over 871. The three-day event co-hosted by Missouri and Kansas State took place at Mountain View Golf Club (par 72 6,352 yards).
Junior
Nicole Lorup was UNLV's highest finisher, ending the tournament in a tie for 13th at 5-under after a final-round 71. Senior
Veronica Joels tied for 32nd at even, while freshman
Kendall Todd finished tied for 42nd at 5-over. Fellow freshman
Hina Matsui tied for 57th at 10-over, while freshman
Sydney Bryan did not finish after withdrawing from the second round.
Texas Tech edged out San Jose State by one stroke to win the team title at 25-under, with the Spartans in second at 24-under and Oklahoma State in third at 17-under. Arkansas' Kajal Mistry took medalist honors at 10-under, followed by San Jose State's Natasha Oon in second at 9-under. Five tied for third at 8-under.
UP NEXT: The Rebels will have a week off before heading back to the Lone Star State, this time to San Antonio for UTSA's tournament, April 5-6.
NOTES:
• Rebels have won three team tournament titles in 2021-22 and finished at par or better in five straight during one stretch, a new program record
• UNLV opened the spring campaign winning its home tournament, The Show, by 13 strokes at 4-under 860 at Spanish Trail Country Club
• UNLV won two tournaments during the fall portion of its season for the first time in program history (Dale McNamara & The Clash at Boulder Creek)
• UNLV shot an 8-under 280 in the final round of the fall (eighth lowest all-time) and opened the spring with a 12-under 276 at The Show (T-3rd lowest all-time)
• The Rebels won the 2021 Dale McNamara Invitational Oct 11-12 in Tulsa, Oklahoma by 11 strokes, marking first tournament win since 2019 (Las Vegas Collegiate Showdown); Three Rebels finished in the top six with freshman
