LAS VEGAS (UNLVRebels.com) —Â
Jenny Bressler threw her seventh complete-game shutout of the season, albeit over two days, as UNLV defeated Utah State 6-0 Saturday afternoon.
Friday's softball game between UNLV and Utah State was suspended due to a technical issue with lighting and resumed Saturday at 1 p.m.
Bressler collected nine strikeouts, allowing just three hits and a walk in 19 ½ hours of work.
The Rebels plated their first two batters as
Sofia Morales scored on
Ariana Martinez's sacrifice fly and
Maddie Schmidt came home with
Denise Armendariz's single to first base.
Martinez batted in two more runs in the bottom of the fifth, hitting a ground ball up the middle that scored Schmidt and
April Visser. It was Martinez's 11th straight game reaching base.
Another pair of runs came in during the sixth off the bat of
Mia Trejo.
Alyssa Trejo drew a walk and then back-to-back bunt singles loaded the bases with Morales and Schmidt.
Mia Trejo singled through the left side to drive in two.
UNLV led Utah State 4-0 after five innings when officials suspended play.
